Abstract

This investigation was performed to evaluate the spasmolytic action of rociverine on the smooth musculature of the pyloric sphincter in a double-blind controlled trial against hyoscine butylbromi. e.
Rociverine induced the same degree of relaxation rate (95.4%) as lryoscine butylbromide (88.8%). The time interval from drug administration to watch of full relaxation state of sphincter (grade 0) is significantly shorter in rociverine group (9.0¡¾2.1min) than hyoscine butylbromide group (10.5¡¾3.6min) (p<0.05). Tiere were no measurable side reactions.
Thus, we thought that the use of rociverine in the premedication of upper gastrointestinal tract endoscopy appeared to be an appropriate alternative to hyoscine butylbromide.
